UnlUcKy 13

Speakin about the no. 13. I am not a superstitious person. I never belief that 13 is a unlucky number. However, just recently, 2 unlucky events happened on the 13th April 2006 and on the 26th (13 x 2).

Lets talk about the earlier event, 13th April 2006.

Months ago, i got my PDL, provisional driving license. And immediately on that day, think it' s the 27th or 28th of oct 2005, i went to book the driving test date. i am not kiasu ok, it that the waiting time for the test is like half a year lor.

There are a few dates and timing available, 10th, 11th, 12th and so on. But, the timing left for the earliest date is during the peak hour. Who in the right mind would want to have their test suring the peak hours? Unless really desparate. So i skipped the 10th and 11th.

My instructor wanted to book the 12th at 145pm, if i didnt remember wrongly. Yet i was worried about secondary sch kids. There should be quite a number of kids crossing the road and dashing across. Hence i suggested 245pm on the 13th.

i wanted to prove to everyone that 13 is not a unlucky number and i would pass my driving test the first time. I didnt want to break my record. I passed my basic and advance theory the first time. Hoping to have a perfect record. Things didnt happen the way i wanted it to be.

Damn.

I was very nervous days before the actual date arrives. However, when it is getting closer to the 13th, i was like already given up hope. Taking the test lightly. It is actually very easy to drive what! It is only the road situation that is difficult. I need to react to the different situation. Thus just hope that "there is no car, there is no car".

ahahahahhaHAHAAHHhha...

In the morning, i went for the last round of pratice. Not 100% confident. but driving is really easy. Bad weather. It started to drizzle. Suay!!! Not easy to drive in wet weather. Cause blur vision, floor slippery, cant see the parking poles and etc.

In the afternoon, i was slightly gan cheong. The waiting time is always the scariest and the hardiest to pass. My instructor told me about the "death spot" and giving me some last minute pointers. I walked up to the second floor. Waiting to be called into the room and draw lot on the route i was going to take. Exactly at 245pm, 9 people went into the room together. All of us seemed nervous.

Oh ya, there was a girl who dressed very very casually. Pink singlet, flower shorts, SLIPPER???, (how can wear slipper for driving???), so much like going for chalet or Sentosa. No respect for the traffic police, TP. Hai"( 60% fail le)

Back to drawing lot. My name was the first being picked. I got route 10. I was rather happy. Because quan quan did mention that route 10 is the damn easiest route. Haha, luck is on my side, YEAH!!! We were told to look at the map of our test route. I looked at the map and try visualising the route in my brain. Pictures are always better to remember.

After the lot, we waited to be called by our tester. One after one were being called. I was like the 4th or 5th bah. My tester is a Indian man. He looked very friendly and kind. A good man. Ha. Luck is really really on my side. Goddess of victory is with me. HAHA!!!

I greated the tester, trying to be nice and give him good impression. Ya ya, i wore skirt. People keep saying that girls wear skirt will sure pass de. So i rather belief, ning ke xing qi you, bu ke xing qi wu. I even put on make-up for the driving test. U know lah, i am ugly. Need to look nice mah, good impression.

i followed him to the car, started to do safety checks before moving off. ( Safety is a important criteria in the test) Your skill may not be as good, but you must be a safe driver. I was rally careful, keep moving my head, check left, right, blind spot and drive slowly.

Everything went very smoothly in the circuit, i managed to clear every station without knocking down the poles, ( hahah, nick hor) not mild curb and etc.

I proceeded to the road. Fortunate me, there was almost NO CAR, although small drizzle. That was no big deal. Wow minutes after, i saw an accident in front of me. Is it a bad omen??? I saw a "L" plate bike slided in front of my road. I panicked. Gasped. The tester ask me to proceed and thus i have to change to a outer lane. Change of lane, that mean i would have to do all the safety checks and would result in a chance of getting demerit points. I think i did okay and the rest of the journey went on well although the tester did a last minute order for me to do a left turn.

Luckily i remembered the map of the test route, i know that i was supposed to turn, but why didnt he say anything yet?? Why??? I drive very slowly waitning for instruction. Finally he said it, immediately i did the checks and turned. Hew... Smooth. I am going back soon. Hooray!!! I am going to pass.

Finally, i reached Bukit Batok driving centre. I did a left turn into the circuit, up the slope, moving straight. And the drastic inccident HAPPENED!!! i was a private learner. I only wnet into the circuit for 4 times. Either very early in the morning or late in the night. Heheeh. Cause the ticket to use the circuit is the cheapest.

All i need to do is just one more left turn and stop. License will be mine!!! During my practice, i always drive out of the correct lane when making the turn. Hence i was very very careful with the lane i was in. I kept lookin to my left, making sure i am in the correct lane to prevent any demerit points. I totally forgot about the cars coming from the right. I did not stop in front of the give way line to allow the cars with the right of way to proceed first. After i checked my lane, i was to far out of the give way line. There was a motobike stopped to let me proceed.

QING TIAN PI LI!!!!!!!!

How can this be happening???

How is this possible???

WHY??? WHY??? WHY???

Shit.....

Tester: Why like that?

Me: *silent and praying* *fingers crossed*

THAT WAS A IMMEDIATE FAILURE!!!

Why like that??? Everything went so smoothly. Can you imagine??? Can you??? Just a turn and move my car a bit more, license is mine. You feel the pain??? Feel the disappointment???

WAH!!!

I went back to the room for debriefing. Still hoping that he may say otherwise. NO, he didnt!!! He gave me a fail. I was so sad. Argued a little politely. The tester still looked nice and friendly.

What can i do? I didnt want ot argue further. That's my luck. I wasnt familar with the driving into the circuit. When i drive in, there always isnt any car. No worries about stopping there. Oh ya, before the driving test my instructor did mention that i need to be careful with that spot. I regreted for putting it out of my mind.

SHIT MYSELF.

Both my instructor and the tester are so nice people, but i didnt grab hold of the chance. Think i was the last person to go back for debriefing cause people coming for the next timing is already coming into the room.

Tester said i should be able to pass the second time and i believe i will. I thanked him and left. My instructor waited outside. I felt so sad to disappoint my instructor. Feel so sorry for letting him down.

*Sorry Instructor*

We went to book my second test date. It's on the 7th of July 2006. Yeah!!! Lucky 7. Sure pass liao. Not "death" 4 for april, and unlucky 13. Two lucky 7 leh. Pass liao. ahahhaaa

Think i am going to break for 2 month before attending my next driving lessons.

In the night time, i was on my way to cameroon highland with my fav. My ah ma. Thought i was able to enjoy myself with a license when travelling to malaysia. As a reward. But it happened to be a vacation to console myself.

Sadded."(

That all for the day. Quite late le.

Some other day i will continue my later part of the unlucky 13 on the 26th April 2006.
